ABOUT US

Our Organization

The Book Club, crafted by the Literature Circle Society, aims to support at-risk school-aged children in the metro Detroit area. Studies indicate that over 60 percent of low-income households lack children’s books. By participating in our book club, students not only enhance their reading skills but also gain access to literature and foster a love for reading. Sessions are held as after-school enrichment or lunchtime learning sessions and are led by certified teachers.

Our Goal

The goal of the book club is two-fold: for the youth in the program to increase reading proficiency and to provide students with access to books. Additionally, we aim to foster a lifelong love of reading and learning, encourage critical thinking and discussion among participants, and build a supportive community where young readers can thrive.
